Weekly Budget Review

Before sales and coupons this would have cost $134.46 and I paid $49.19.  I also purchased 3 packages of Rhodes Warm and Serve Rolls, and redeemed my rain check for 2 Sara Lee Pies and 2 Breyers ice creams that are not in the picture.  Some items I didn't have coupons for but had to have for Thanksgiving weekend which are lasagne noodles$1.99, Ricotta Cheese $2.99, 2 Butters $1.69 each,  2 cans of Olives $.87 each, Granola Clusters $2.99 ( I had a $1.00 off coupon), 2 Liters Diet Pepsi $.99 each, Bread $1.99, Bananas $1.45, Lemons $1.68, 2 packs Herbs $1.99 each. 

Items that I used coupons on: Nestle Toll House Cookies on sale $2.49, used $1.00 from 11/1 RP and doubled it, final price $.49 each. I bought 9 in 3 separate trips.  Rhodes Rolls, $2.69 each, used $1.00 from Sept. SS, doubled them, final price $.69 each, bought 3.  Gillette Shaving Gel, on sale $1.49, used $.55 from 11/1 P&G, final after doubling $.39 each, Cat food $4.99, used $.75 coupon and doubled it, final price $3.49, 2 Philidelphia Cream Cheese $.88 each with coupon in store.

I used my 5 sets of Double Coupons that I got with my subscription.

I am only listing what I think are the best deals.  As a general rule, if you are saving 60% or more then it is time to stock up.  If it is less then 60% savings then buy what you need to get through until a better sale comes along.

Here are a few that I have come up with so far! If anyone wants to share what they find that would be great! Remember you can only use 3 double coupons per trip. You can double any manufacturers coupon $1.00 or less. You can not double coupons that say Do Not Double or Triple or Not Subject to Doubling on them.

Remember to cut your coupons out before you use them, several people have not been doing this and the cashiers have to cut them for you.  Also if the cashier tells you that you can not use the coupons or tries to help either tell them you do not want the item or buy it and then go to customer service.  We love our Albertson's employees and appreciate all their help!  Thanks Albertson's for giving us Doubles!

My shopping trip this morning

1st trip through was spend $30.00 get $15.00 back in catalinas.  I bought 9 boxes of Kleenex, 1 box of Progresso Broth, 6 Pasta Sides, 1 box of Q-tips, 1 Betty Crocker Frosting, and 4 Pillsbury Cresent Rolls.  Total before tax and coupons was $30.48.  I used 3-$.50/3 Kleenex coupons, $.50/1 Progresso broth coupon, 2-$1.00/3 Knorr Pasta coupons, $.50 off B.C. Frosting coupon, and 2 -$.50/2 cresent roll coupons bringing my total to $22.98, I doubled the $1.00 Knorr Pasta coupons, new total $20.98.  Used my $15.00 from previous trip, and paid $9.69 in cash.  Plus got back $15.00 to use on my next trip.

This is the rest of what I bought.  I will just give you an overview since all the coupon information can be found in my other Albertson's posts.  These items I used Double Coupons on - (And yes, I went through the line 11 times today) 3 Tree Top juices $1.00 each;3 bags Nestle Choc. Chips $1.50 each; 10 Yoplait yogurts (used 1 $.50/6 yoplait coupons and 1 $.75/4 of any brand and doubled it) $.50 each; 4 packages of Warm and Serve Rolls $.69 each; 3 Sure Deoderants $.06 each; 6 packs of Fleischman yeast $.49 each;2 Vanilla Extracts $1.50 each; 2 Boxes of Cinnabon Bars $.06 each; 2 Crisco Olive Oil $3.99 each;  Mozerella Cheese $3.49;

Regular Priced items: 3 Sparkling Apple Juice $.99 each; Bread $1.99; Eggs $1.49;Whipping Cream $2.49; Cream Cheese $2.00 each; Bananas $1.46; 4 Avacados $4.75; Lettuce $1.49; Cucumber $.79; Celery $1.49; Chicken Breast 2 packages, total $7.15 (on sale for $1.77 per pound).

Grand total for the whole day is $57.18 and I bought $213.06 in groceries for a savings of 73%. Plus I have 2 surveys to call in for $2.00 off each.

I went $7.18 over my weekly budget but I had to have fresh produce!

Double coupons in todays paper!

There are 3 double coupons in today's paper.  They are on a slick, one page ad.  Just to remind everyone of how to use these here are the rules.  You may only use 3 per trip so if you have multiple sets then use 3 and then leave the store and come back in and use 3 more.  You can only double a coupon $1.00 or less in value and it can not say Do not Double on it.  You can only double manufacturers coupons, not Albertson's in store coupons.  Thanks and happy shopping!

Walgreens Basics

I decided it is time to tackle the task of explaining how to shop Walgreens!  Put your thinking cap on and don't get discouraged if this takes some time to figure out!
First, Walgreens have Register Rewards (RR) instead of catalina's like Albertsons and Smith's.  RR are counted as a coupon in their system, not like cash.
Second, you can only use as many coupons and RR's as you have items for.  Meaning if you are buying 7 products and you are using 6 manufacturers coupons then you may only use 1 RR on this transaction.  If you would like to pay with more RR then you must find something inexpensive to buy (pencil, caramel etc.) You do not have to include Walgreen's coupons in this count, only manufacturer coupons and RR.
Third, you must pay whatever you owe in tax with cash or card, not a RR.  Meaning before coupons and RR your total is $30.00, in Idaho your tax will be $1.80 (you pay tax on the coupons that you are using).  Let's say you have $16.00 in coupons which brings your total down to $15.80.  You have (1) $7.00 RR, (2) $5.00 RR, and (1) $3.00 RR.  You can pay with the seven dollar RR, and 1 five dollar RR leaving your total out of pocket at $3.80.  You cannot use the $3.00 RR because you have to pay $1.80 in cash because that is what you owe in tax.
Fourth, you can not use a RR on the same product and get a new one to print. Meaning if you buy Shampoo and get a $2.00 RR and go through again and use that $2.00 RR to buy the same shampoo then you will not get another $2.00 RR.  So what you do is leapfrog products!  Buy the shampoo, get the $2.00 RR, go back and buy another product, let's say toothpaste, use the $2.00 RR and get a $1.50 RR.  Then you can go back and buy shampoo, pay with the $1.50 toothpaste RR and get another $2.00 RR. 
Fifth, you must pay close attention to the ad because they do not mark products that are on sale.  You can only purchase however many the ad says to get the RR.  For instance, if the ad says Herbal Essence Shampoo  $2.99- $2.00 RR is like paying $.99 that means you can only buy 1 shampoo at a time.  If you buy 2 you will only get 1 RR.  If the ad says Herbal Essence 2/$6.00 - $2.00 RR like paying 2/$4.00 then you can buy 2.  So decide if you are going to buy 5 different products that are all getting RR's in one transaction or whether you are going to leapfrog and buy 1 at a time so you can use the RR to buy the next product.  But remember if you are leapfrogging and using a manufacturers coupon then you must also buy something extra to keep your coupon ratio in check.
Sixth, don't be surprised when the register beeps and the clerk has no idea why.  We actually know more about their system at this point then most of them do.  Just take it one transaction at a time and be kind.  Get a refund if you need to and email me any questions you may have.

Albertsons shopping trip this morning!

I went and did two trip through the store this morning to use the coupons that say do not double because I have a feeling we will be getting doubles this Sunday. The picture has both trips combined but I will break it apart to show you how the promotion works.
1st trip: 1 box Cinnamon Toast Crunch (used 1-  $.55 coupon) 6 Progresso Broth (used 6- $.50 coupons) 5 Betty Crocker Frostings (used 5- $.50 coupons) 4 B.C. Brownie Mixes (used 2- $.75/2 coupons) 2 Gold Medal Flour ( used 2- $.50 coupons).  Paid out of pocket 24.11, saved $29.36 and got 3 $5.00 catalina's back. 
2nd trip: 4 boxes of Trix (used 2- $1.00/2 coupons) 6 boxes of hamburger helper (used 2- $.75/3 coupons) 7 Boxes of B.C. Potatoes (used 7- $.40 coupons) 1 B.C. Cake mix (no coupon).
Used $6.30 in coupons and my 3 $5.00 catalina's to pay.  Paid out of pocket $10.84 and got 3 more $5.00 catalina's!  Money maker! Saved $39.16.
Total for the two trips- Money spent $34.95    Total saved $68.52  plus still have $15.00 to spend, plus on my 2nd trip I got a survey for $2.00 off my next purchase. 
So I went over a little this week but I have no more shopping that needs to be done!  My total for Smith's and Albertsons was $66.92 and I saved $187.89.  I will use my RR that I still have at Walgreen's to buy milk!

Weekly Budget Review

I am not going to give all the details because the sale is over but I spent $31.97 and saved $138.73, 83%!

The chili was $.12 a can, Zesta crackers were $.99 each, Snuggle was $1.99, All was $1.99, Quaker chewy granola bars were $1.11 each, the Halls were free (had to pay $.30 tax) the air wicks were on the mix and match $1.99 for the refill, I had $1.00/2 coupons plus a coupon for buy one refill and get the warmer for free so I got 4 refills and 4 warmers for $5.96.  The Jolly time popcorn was $.75 a box and the gum was $.50 a box.  I actually paid for the gum separate so I spent $5.30 on it.

Total for the day was $37.27
