Dr. Pepper Sale at Albertson!

I got this post from www.athriftymom.com and I haven't tried it here but it has always worked before!  If you are worried it won't work just ask one of the cashiers or managers when you go in the store.

I am so excited to let you know about this great deal going on at Albertsons.  They have a soda sale going on right now, buy 2 get 2 free.  My Albertsons manager just called me to let me know that when you buy 4 12 packs of Dr Pepper it is printing out a $5 catalina.
So here is how the deal will work:
  • Buy 4 packs of Dr Pepper your total will be $10.78 plus tax
  • After you pay a $5 catalina will print out that you can use on your next purchase
  • You can then use that $5 catalina towards another 4 packs of soda ( or anything else you want)
  • Making the next 4 you buy only $1.45 a 12 pack, and another $5 catalina will print
I do not know hoe long the catalina will print for?  Any one know the end date? My local Caldwell store just got a huge shipment in, but I am sure it will not last long.  Not sure how well other stores are stocked?

This week's budget review

Today I went to Albertson's and Walgreens and I am not planning on going shopping any more this week because my car is leaking oil and they can't fix it until Friday.  Which is actually great because I am going to throw pottery in my studio for the first time in about 6 weeks!  Yay!
Anyway back to business!  I went to Walgreens and got the carmex B1G1 free, $1.59 for both, the ThermaCare Buy One Get One 50% off, used 2, $2.00 off coupons, final price for both $6.48, the lotion was $6.99 and I got a $7.00 Register Reward.  I also bought 2 gallons of milk and a card for my sister's birthday.  I paid with $8.00 in register rewards and my total was $16.44 and I still have $7.00 in RR to spend.

Albertsons, I bought 3 packages of toilet paper for $3.49 each, 10 bottles of Tree Top juice for $1.00 each, 2 Marie Calendar Pasta meals for $1.50 each, Tillamook cheese for $4.99, Vicks 44 cold relief on clearance for $.62, 6 packages of Warm and Serve rolls for $.69 each.  Grand total was $36.37 and I saved $79.75.
Add Walgreen's and Albertsons the total spent is $52.81 and total savings is $96.66 plus $7.00 RR.  Not my best week ever but I won't be buying toilet paper for quite sometime between last week and this week!

Weekly Budget review

Last week's shopping a little late!  I spent $33.35 and saved $102.22.  Since the sale is no longer on I won't go into all the details but the cat treats were free, the Hormel meats were $2.99 each, the ice cream was $1.49 each, the Swiffer dusting spray was $2.99 for both, the toilet paper was $4.99 each, the lettuce was B1G1 plus I had $1.10 off so $1.45 each and I needed bread which was $2.00.  Needless to say I didn't spend my $50.00 budget!

Double Coupon Ideas

I just wanted to give you some ideas of what you can use your Twice the Value Coupons (Doubles) for today and tomorrow.
Quilted Northern is on sale for $5.49, use $1.00 off from 10/4 SS and Double it so it is $3.49 for 12 rolls or 9- 3 ply rolls.

Tree Top is 2/$4.00, use $1.00/2 coupon, double it and final price is $1.00 each.

Marie Calendar Pasta Al Dente is 2/$5.00, use $1.00/2, double it, final price $1.50 each.

Litehouse Caramel in the produce section is 2/$5.00, use $1.00 off any litehouse product, double it, final price $.50 each.

Warm and Serve rolls, $2.69 each, use $1.00 off, double it, final price is $.69 each.

Tillamook cheese is $4.99, use $1.00 off from coupons.com, double it, final price $2.99

Campbells Soups 10/$10.00 or $1.00 each, use $.40/2 coupon, double it, final price $.60 each.  You have to pay attention to your coupons because there are a few different ones.  We also have $.40/4 but it is only on tomato and chicken noodle.  If you use those your final cost will be $.80 each.

Let me know if you find any other great deals!

About Me

I am a stay at home mom with 2 boys, oldest in college and youngest a junior in high school. I have been married for 19 years to my best friend, Mark. For years I have been buying food and telling my boys things like "Do not eat the lunchable in the fridge, it is for your field trip on Friday". Since I began super couponing last May, I no longer have anything in my house that is off limits! It has been a HUGE blessing for our family since our oldest just started college and expenses seem to steadily increase. I have gone from spending $800.00 to $1000.00 per month on food and household items to spending $200.00 or less! Plus I have 10 times the amount of storage then I ever have. My personal goal is to save at least 60% every time I go shopping although most of the time I am able to save closer to 75%. I can honestly say that I will never go back to paying retail no matter how much money we make or how old I get! I hope this website will be helpful and informative. Please feel free to email and make comments and I will try to answer your questions as best I can. Also don't forget to tell me about your successes! The best part of this process is hearing that it is making a difference in someone's life. Thanks and Happy Shopping!
Nicole

Man's perspective on couponing!

Okay, I saw this post on Saveathomemommy and thought it was hilarious mostly because I have had the same conversations with my husband!  He is awesome though at going through the checkout 10 time to use my doubles as long as I hand him 3 coupons, 3 doubles and cash and tell him how much it will cost!  Enjoy!

Four months ago, in the eyes of my wife, I was becoming a failure. Not because I was a lousy husband or deadbeat dad. Not because my performance at work was sub-par. I was becoming a failure in her eyes because I couldn’t complete a simple retail transaction at Target. To her, they were simple transactions. To me they were 12th grade honors calculus equations. “Ok, use this manufacturer coupon on this sale item from the Smart Source 625-009-639er with the store coupon when you BOGO and you’ll get this gift card to use on this transaction, oh wait…never mind. Instead, take these 28 coupons to use on these three items and they should give you…blah…coupon…sales ad…reward points…blah, blah, blah. Ready, BREAK! And don’t forget to profile the cashier before choosing your check-out register.” What?

At first, I was so determined to not disappoint her that I never turned down a  challenge. But I quickly realized I was in over my head. Once I began to get my coupons rejected, it was all downhill. I’m somewhat of a non-confrontationalist. My wife, on the other had, goes in to the stores with her corporate coupon policies strapped to her brass knuckles. If I had one coupon questioned or had to have the manager called over, I usually offered to pay them double and would throw my coupons up in the air and run out of the store squealing like my 4 year old little girl. And when we would make trips to the store as a family, inevitably the manager would be requested. As the SaveAtHomeMommy  would emerge from her phone booth ready to fight crimes of full-prices, I would  quickly gather the children and race to the car. It was about to get ugly. I didn’t want the kids to see this.
On multiple occasions, I came home, repented of sinful ways and vowed never to attempt a “simple” transaction again. So for a while, I stopped. It was too much pressure. I didn’t want to read about my shortcomings somewhere on the blogosphere. So I took some time off to gather myself. I continued to watch my wife complete complicated transactions with ease while our monthly grocery budget plummeted. Every once in a while I felt useful as I would gladly offer up my cutlery skills to clip the coupons on Sunday nights. I liked doing this. There was little room for failure. There’s dotted lines with small images of scissors. I was always complimented on my scissor skills in elementary school. This was my contribution. This was where I shined! But several weeks ago, things were really busy and I knew I could help my wife by making an early morning shopping run to the supermarket. So she did what she hoped would work. She wrote out very specific instructions, armed me with the sale ad and drew me some pictures with our kid’s crayons. And guess what? It worked. I completed the transaction correctly, used all the right coupons and came home with bags of groceries for little cash. Hey, it took almost four hours, but so what. I went to our van and was so excited about my triumph that through my tear-filled eyes, I tweeted about it before I left the parking lot. Now hundreds of people on my social networks would know that I’m not a loser. This morning, it happened again. I successfully completed a semi-complicated transaction. I even grew a little bit of a financially sound backbone as I was not leaving the store until I get my extra paper bucks, or whatever they’re called.
So it can be done. It takes a while, guys, but you can do this. Here are  my tips for dads to save at home, just like you mommies.
1. Women, keep your expectations very low. At failure level. One day soon, he’ll surprise you.
2. Pride cometh before your excessive toiletry budget. Develop a bit of “Who cares?” attitude. And I’ve got 19 bottles of aftershave in my cabinet. Do you?
3. Hand drawn pictures really do help. Those jumbo kindergarten crayons work best.
4. Think of it as your way of sticking it to the man. And then stick that extra cash in your pocket.
Seriously, guys this may seem complicated in the beginning, but it does get easier and you can really help your wife and participate in the weekly shopping if you take the time to learn a few simple guidelines.

Binders have been ordered!

Just want to say thank-you to everyone who came to the class last night!  Remember to email me if you have any questions or post a comment and I will try to answer the best that I can.
Also I have ordered the binders for those that wanted them.  I will let you know when they get here!

  • Use the $1.00 off any brand of cheese from coupons.com

I am not sure which ones exactly are on sale so be sure to read your coupons!

Heinz Promo $5.00 off next shopping order when you spend $15.00 on participating items.
The only item I have a coupon for is Bagel Bites $1.00/1 so I will just put a scenario out there and you can decide if it sounds like a good deal for you!

If you buy 3 Ore-Ida hashbrowns = $9.87
1 Smart Ones Bistros = $2.99
1 Smart Ones Classic or Desert = $2.29
Total is $15.15
You will get a $5.00 catalina for your next order so it is like paying $10.15 or $2.03 each

It is a tricky sale since everything is odd amounts so put your math brain on, you will need it!

On the back page there are budget stretchers but I don't see anything that is that great of a deal.

There are several good meat coupons so remember to look at those.

Happy Shopping everyone!

2nd Albertsons shopping trip!

This trip I spent $8.76, saved $28.69 and got back $12.50 in catalina's and a $1.00 Swanson broth.  I bought $26.00 worth of products, Pie Crusts 2/$5.00, granola bars 2/$5.00, fruit snacks 2/$5.00 and broth $2.00 each.  I used my $14.00 of catalina's from my 1st trip, coupon: $1.00/2 for pie crusts, $1.00/2 fruit snacks, $.50/2 fruit snacks, $.50 off each broth, and $.40 off each granola bar.
Total for today was $36.39 in cash, saved $54.07 and still have $12.50 in catalina's to spend!

Albertson shopping trip today!

I went to Albertsons earlier today and this is what I got for $27.63.  I bought 4 jars of Prego at $1.49 each, 4 pie crusts at $2.50 each, 2 Grands biscuits and 4 cresent rolls at $1.67 each, and 3 boxes of Betty Crocker potatos at $1.66 each.  Everything except the Prego was on the sale where you spend $25.00 and get a $10.00 catalina.  I used $1.00 off of 2 peelie coupon for the pie dough, $1.00/2 Grands, $.50/2 for the cresent rolls, and $.40/1 on the potatoes.  The total was $27.63 including tax but then I got back the $10.00 catalina, a $1.00 catalina for the Prego, and a $3.00 catalina for buying 5 Pillsbury products in one order. so all together I got $14.00 to use on my next order.

My Albertson's Shopping trip this morning!

I was awake most of the night so I decided to go shopping at 7 this morning!  I was so excited for the new sale that started today!  I got 8 canisters of oatmeal $.88 each; 10 bags of sugar, $1.40 each; 10 boxes of Chewy granola bars, $.625 each; 4 bags peas, $1.40 each; 5 Schick razors, $.50 each; 2 packages bacon, $2.50 each; 3 Steamfresh meals, $2.00 each; 2 bags Fresh Express Salad, $1.39 each, 2 Snuggle Fabric softeners, $.99 each; 2 boxes True Delights Bars, $.50 each; 2 Welch's Juices, $1.50 each; 4 Palmolives, $1.00 each; and 2 loaves of OroWeat Bread, $1.95 each.  Grand total of $69.85 and I saved $189.17!  So that means I brought home $259.02 worth of groceries for $69.85, savings of 67%!
They will be restocking on Friday so be patient if they are out of some items.  We are still working out how to get everything ordered!  Happy shopping!
